Dr. Michael Hayman, Managing DVM

Dr. Michael Hayman, Managing DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Hayman is a 1989 graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and joined the practice in 1991. His primary areas of interest are in quality preventative care, orthopedic surgery, and reproductive medicine. Dr. Mike, his wife Wendy, and their two children love the Northwoods. In his free time, he enjoys all Northwoods outdoor activities.

Dr. David Theuerkauf, Managing DVM

Dr. David Theuerkauf, Managing DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Theuerkauf is originally from Menominee, Michigan, where he grew up in a large family working on the family farm. He attended Michigan State University, receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1985. He has enjoyed practicing veterinary medicine for Northwoods Animal Hospital after joining the team in 1987. He appreciates the multiple facets that general practice offers with particular interests in ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, and preventative medicine. Dr. Dave and his wife Audrey have three children, and they all enjoy the year-round outdoor activities the Northwoods has to offer.

Dr. Brian Theuerkauf, Associate DVM

Dr. Brian Theuerkauf, Associate DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Brian Theuerkauf is originally from Minocqua, Wisconsin, and is Dr. David Theuerkauf’s son. He attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in the spring of 2021. His primary interests are in internal medicine, preventative medicine, and soft tissue surgery. Brian and Hannah moved to the Northwoods with their cat, Moe, where they enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and year-round activities.

Laura F.

Practice Manager

About Laura

Laura joined the Northwoods Animal Hospital team in 2013 and took on the practice manager position in 2020. She enjoys the many aspects of working in the veterinary field, especially the animals and the team that cares for them. Laura loves to spend time with her husband, son, and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys scuba diving, biking, hunting, and anything outdoors.

Personnel Manager/Licensed Veterinary Technician

About Karen

Karen started her profession as a licensed veterinary nurse in Colorado in 1998. She studied veterinary medicine at the University of Washington - Madison and moved back to Wisconsin in 2007 with her family, where she joined Northwoods Animal Hospital in 2008. Karen appreciates every part of her career and has a passion for progressive medicine, quality care, client education, and pain management. She also grew to enjoy all aspects of the business while taking on various roles. She loves spending time outdoors year-round, downhill skiing, water sports, wildlife, and doing art in her free time. The majority of her time is spent with her son, teaching him about the world and exploring it through nature!

Lisa M.

Inventory Manager

About Lisa

Lisa spent several years and many miles behind the windshield as a territory manager for an animal health company calling on veterinary clinics from Stevens Point to the U.P. In 2017, Lisa decided to step out of one career and into the role of inventory manager at Northwoods Animal Hospital. Besides ensuring that all three clinics have all the products and medical supplies needed, Lisa also coordinates staff product trainings. When she isn’t working, Lisa splits her time between her Green Bay home and Northwoods home (a.k.a favorite home). She enjoys spending time outdoors, making memories with family and friends, and also helps others as a certified health coach. Lisa’s love of animals started at a young age growing up on a small hobby farm, but these days her heart belongs to two golden retrievers.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

About Angie

Angie is a licensed veterinary nurse with a degree in veterinary technology. She joined the team at Northwoods Animal Hospital in 2013 and has a passion for veterinary medicine. Angie loves spending time with her husband, three sons, and all their animals including dogs, horses, cats, and chickens. In her downtime, she enjoys horseback riding, camping, downhill skiing, and four-wheeling.

Eric has been with Northwoods Animal Hospital since spring 2016. Eric enjoys building good connections with both clients and patients alike. In his spare time, he enjoys getting out to fish with his son and playing volleyball as much as he can, as well as spending time with his family and their two dogs.

Angela has been in the veterinary field since 2006. She moved with her family to the Northwoods in early 2019 and has been working for Northwoods Animal Hospital since January 2020. She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and cat named Georgie.

About Kristin

Kristin has worked in the veterinary field since 2013 and is currently studying to get her Wisconsin license in veterinary nursing. She loves playing with her dog Rosie, being out on the lake, and watching the Packers play on the weekends.

About Angie

Angie has been with the Northwoods Animal Hospital team since 2008. She is the team's lead receptionist and technician assistant. Angie moved here from Merrill in 2007 with her husband and two children. They also have two Labradors named Timber and Willow. In her free time, she enjoys being outside, spending time with her family, kayaking, and fishing.

About Stephanie

Stephanie has worked as a customer service representative for Northwoods Animal Hospital since April 2019. She has always loved animals and aspires to pet them all. Thus far, Stephanie has had quite a few pets in her life, including horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, turtles, and fish. She has a good sense of humor and loves to laugh and make others laugh.

Jan has been grooming pets for 22 years and has been with Northwoods Animal Hospital since 2003. In her free time, she enjoys riding a Harley with her husband, off-road jeeping, and walking in the woods with their two dogs.

Cora is a college student who works in boarding and loves all animals. She is a pre-vet student studying a the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, for a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, writing, reading, western riding, and traveling.

About Deb

Deb grew up in Minnesota and moved to the Wisconsin Northwoods in 2009. She graduated from Argosy University in 1994, a fact that makes her feel old! Besides working as a licensed veterinary technician, she also has seven years of teaching veterinary technology under her belt. Deb is the resident "crazy cat lady," and her passion is taking in orphan kittens and bottle raising them. She lives with her husband, a yellow Labrador named Cleo, and two cats called Cyrus & Olive. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, bowhunting, quilting, and reading.

About Sharon

Sharon began working at Northwoods Animal Hospital as a receptionist after moving here from Minnesota in 1996. After 20 years in our Minocqua location, she now works in our Eagle River clinic and covers the Manitowish Waters clinic as needed. She attended the University of Washington-River Falls for equine management and business. Sharon describes her position as her dream job because of her love for pets and their people.

Sue moved to the Northwoods in 2014 from Illinois but has been a visitor all her life. She joined Northwoods Animal Hospital in 2019. Sue loves working with animals and has a passion for their spirit and the endless love they give. She thinks her team is incredible and learns from them every day. In her free time, Sue enjoys fishing, gardening, cooking, and canning. At home, she has an adopted kitty named Bella, who brings endless joy to her life!
